The Disappearance of Gabby Petito
Gabby Petito and her fiance Brian Laundrie embarked on a journey to travel across the country in 2021. Petito had aspirations of becoming a vlogger by documenting their life on road.
This dream was cut short.
Petitio and Laundrie met each other in high school, became friends and graduated in 2017. They began their relationship in March 2019.
Later on in the year the couple moved in with Laundrie’s parents in North Port, FL. In an effort to save money for the cross-country road trip Petito worked two jobs.
In July 2020 Petito creates a social post that reveals her and Laundrie are engaged. By December they purchase a 2012 Ford Transit Connect van and remodel it into a camper.
A few months after Petito turns 22 they visit her family in New Point, NY. This was the last time Petito’s mother, Nichole saw Gabby. After exchanging hugs and goodbyes with family, the couple headed West on a four-month long trip.
On Aug. 12, 2021 police in Moab, Utah respond to a report of domestic violence. A witness reported that a man was seen hitting a woman in a van. Petito and Laundrie are questioned and ultimately separated for the night by police.
The couple reunite the following day and continue their trip. Aug. 19 Petito, posts a YouTube video documenting their van life experience.
